Life’s challenges can allow one to believe that their situations are unique to them. Mental illness, addiction, stress, grief, and busyness touch the lives of individuals on a daily basis. Having someone to support you through these daily challenges is what I am here to do. I would like the opportunity to integrate the knowledge, values, and skills acquired in a counseling position; where I can help others in becoming successful individuals in society and to better utilize their coping skills to make positive decisions within their personal and social lives.
My goal is to build rapport and a safe environment with each individual I encounter. I am rewarded by the ability to witness personal development in the client and myself. I am excited to work individuals, families, groups, and couples. I have the ability to work with all races and ethnicity. Being biracial has given me the skill to speak another language, Spanish.
Most of my experiences has been directed toward adolescents that struggle with addiction. In addition, I have worked with children and adults that struggle with mental health and legal issues. This opportunity has allowed me to use popular theories/techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavior therapy, client-centered therapy, reality therapy and many more.
